“All things foul and ugly,
all creatures short and squat.
Putrid, foul and gangrenous,
the Lord God made the lot.”
-Monty Python.
“While I know myself as a creation of God, I am also obligated to realize and remember that everyone else and everything else are also God’s creation. This is particularly difficult for me when my mind falls upon the cruel person, the batterer, and the bigot. I would like to think that the mean-spirited were created by another force and under the aegis and direction of something other than my God. But since I believe that God created all things, I am not only constrained to know that the oppressor is a child of God, but also obliged to try to treat him or her as a child of God.”
–Maya Angelou

Parable of immortality ( A ship leaves . . . )

I am standing by the seashore.
A ship at my side spreads her white sails to the morning breeze
and starts for the blue ocean.
She is an object of beauty and strength,
and I stand and watch until at last she hangs like a peck of white cloud
just where the sun and sky come down to mingle with each other.
Then someone at my side says :
- ‘There she goes!
Gone where?
Gone from my sight – that is all.
She is just as large in mast and hull and spar
as she was when she left my side
and just as able to bear her load of living freight
to the places of destination.
Her diminished size is in me, not in her.
And just at the moment when someone at my side says:
- ‘There she goes! ‘,
there are other eyes watching her coming to shore,
and other voices ready to take up the glad shout :
- ‘Here she comes!’
By Henry Van Dyke

Ever notice how ships going out to sea appear to get smaller and smaller and eventually disappear from our sight altogether? This is because as something goes away from us, it shrinks on the horizon and in the end, the horizon consumes it and it disappears altogether. The ship is still sailing on, we just can no longer see it. However, it is there, and it is still steaming ahead.
As the ship disappears from us, it is slowly appearing to those on the other side of the world. To us, it gets smaller and smaller and not much more than a dot on the horizon. However, to those on the other side of the world, it grows and grows, and eventually appears!
As it disappears from our sight, it reappears in someone else’s!
The bible says,”when we are absent from the body, we are present with the Lord [2 Corinthians 5:8.]
Today I am thinking of ma and I am sad. However, I know .. although she has sailed away from us and has gone from our mist, she is just now appearing to Jesus and all the folks in her new home. What a glorious arrival that must be! Ma’s spirit is free from the ailments of the earthly body, pain free, sorrow free, and just free! Can you imagine the joy of freedom from earthly ailments of the body as she floats on into her new home to once again meet with those love ones who have already departed these shores! What a day of rejoicing it must be!
In memory of Martha Williams, “ma” a most loving woman who was always like a mother to me. Ma took sail and left earthly shores around 2:30 this afternoon. I know she has sailed on to the other side and many love ones are waving her in, as they see her coming home. I can see them jubilantly shouting…here she comes, as she jubilantly shouts back, Ship Ahoy!
Sail on Ma!

Reposted for Marie. Mist can be tears, can be joy, can be blood, can be sweat, can be semen, can be love, can be hate, …can be whatever…what do you think men mist most?
This poem was written especially for Rick Mobbs at Mine Enemy Grows Older. Rick has been so kind to feature his beautiful work to inspire us to write each week. Due to other responsibilities, Rick has informed us that he will no longer be able to continue his beautiful art prompts. His latest beautiful piece is shown above. . . . I wrote this poem as an interpretation of the art . . . and . . . how I imagine most men, including Rick, may feel . . . at times.
Like Spilt Milk – The Spirit of a Man ~Written by CordieB.
I hold the world with closed iron fists
Though others cry; I vaguely mist
My ego causes my heart to roar
Yet also causes my mist to pour . . . . like spilt milk wasting on the floor.
Instinctively I’m a territorial being…
Not into that which can’t be seen…
Though often I claim to see the light…
Most times I focus on black and white.
Beauty prompts my groin to soar…
Yet also causes my mist to pour. . . .like spilt milk reproducing more!
My thoughts so often unrealized…
Not even I can crystallize . . .
the myriad of issues– real or fantasized . . .
My triumphs cause my voice to roar
yet also cause my mist to pour. . . like spilt milk gushing out the door
My God chose me to oversee…
Why has earth’s fate been placed on me?
Should I choose peace; should I choose war?
Responsibilities cause my mind to explore . . .
yet also cause my mist to pour. . . like spilt milk crashing on the shore . . .

I am the root cause of all creation
In me lies the buildings blocks of all nations . . .
I am the catalyst of all recipes
My vision essentially creates realities
I am the beginning of all success
With my presense there is wonderness!
I am the heart and soul of dreams come true
Finesse me with love and integrity; In turn, I’ll honor you
I brighten the palate of ordinary to magnificence
I give the dullness of life a beautiful majestic essense
Embrace me if you dare; I’ll surely embrace you in return
Perhaps you don’t need me! But without me there’s no yearn
To move beyond the lustreness of life’s everyday mozaic
To make life a little easier or interesting; improve upon the static
I’ll take you to the country or the city, but perhaps you prefer
To travel to the moon or the stars; if you’re a wonderer . . .
Put me into action with desire, love and integrity
With boldness, strength and belief – add some creativity!
Hold me tight; nurture my spirit, and I will come to be
Without me there would be no rockets, buildings, ships, planes, or stairs
No phones, computers, music, art, cars or other wares
I’m imbedded in your humanist, I’m etched in every prayer
But so often you disregard me like a passing love affair . . .
Imagine life without me, an impossible task
You can’t do this without me, “oh why?” you might ask
For in your attempt of the challenge – I’ll be there at your feet
And the circle can’t be broken; this battle always ends in defeat!
Who am I? . . .Aha, did you forget me? – but you know me oh so well
We were best friends as children–remember playing show and tell!
We played so beautifully together, we escaped all limitation!
I am the core of all creation, I am the Spirit of Imagination!
~By CordieB.
What a beautiful Creation the Creator Imagined! Wow! And the Creator passed on the blessing of imagination to humans. We must not forget to embrace our gift of imagination! And . . . we must encourage imagination in the youth . . . while they are young enough to be a creative, innovative force! Peace,
Light and Love, CordieB.

Happy Birthday Dr. King. Thank you for paving the path for equality in America in a time when speaking against inequality and racism in America often costs the life of Black people. I was a Colored girl as a child, born in the early 60’s. I vaguely remember seeing signs posted, “Whites Only.” I was too young to truly understand racism, as I personally was never exposed to racism and felt love all around me, from people of all colors.
As I grew older, I came to realize that all people were not as friendly and loving as those who were in my comfort circle as a child.
Blatant racism has diminished in America and for that I am thankful. Yet I see a tide that seems to be turning back to those days, when I was a colored girl. I see and hear hatred brewing in America, and I must remind myself and the world that we must remain vigilant in love for all people, less we may slip backwards.
Your dream is materializing each day in the hearts and minds of many people! I pray that this abundance of love will overshadow the few whose minds and hearts are bent on ignorance and hate. I vow to continue in your legacy and pass on your dream! I vow to not allow my own comfort and/or fears to silence me or defer the Dream of equality and love for ALL people! Not just Black people, or White people, or straight people, or gay people, or Jews, or Latinos, or Asian, or Middle Eastern, or African, or Indians, or old people, or young people, or handicapped people, but ALL people! Let us not defer the Dream of Equality for All.
Here’s to you, Dr. King!
Dreams Deferred ~By CordieB.
What happens to our dreams deferred?
Unacted upon desires that are seldom heard . . .
Do they wash away with the crimson tide . . .
By the sands of time which can’t be defied?
What happens to our dreams alas. . .
which we sadly allow to simply pass. . .
or hold at bay for a better day
Do they await our return or simply fade away?
What happens when we put our dreams on a shelf?
Do they wait patiently for us to find ourselves
Or do they float away to an unknown dreamland
Where dreams deferred converge and reemerge once again . . .
In the soul of another child-like spirit . .
with the heart to reclaim our neglected dream’s merit
Who will take the forsaken dream and caress its face
And abandon not its saving grace
Allow not our dreams to become deferred
Unnurtured; Seldom talked to; Barely heard. . .
For without our love, passion, and concern
Our dream will whither; thus our heart will burn and yearn. . .
Yet the dream will one day find another
Who will embrace that dream like a new found lover
And the dream will lovingly reciprocate
But sadly for us, it will be too late;
Yet to ease our minds, we will call it fate.

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.

Lingering lovingly into space
Searching for her saving grace
Looking up to bright blue skies
for the answers to the why’s
Lingering lovingly into spaces
Searching past familiar faces
Staring distantly through the eyes
For the truths amid the lies
Lingering lovingly into spaces
of the self for bits and traces
of self truths that tell no lies
to answers laying in disguise…

Where do you look for answers to your most intimate questions? Do you look to a higher being, to other people,to books and media, to nature, to self… are the answers found in one and in all of these sources???
Quote for the Day – The hardest part of finding the correct answer is finding the correct source. (Another question in and of itself
) ~CordieB.
Do the answers change not only with the source, but with timing….with space…..where and when….what do you think? Are the answers dynamic, fluid, evolving as we evolve! I’d love to know your views…
Submitted for Simply Snickers Poetry Prompt. This week’s prompt words are, Linger, Look and Love.

I’m hoping every one brought the New Year in with joy and love! As I reflect upon last year and look forward to this new year, I am filled with ideas and goals for the upcoming year. I am also filled with a few sorrows for those things I was not able to accomplish last year. As I look for the answers, spirit led me to re-post a post I penned last year. . . with a few amendments.

King of Pumpkins (My Grandson, Marquese --CordieB)
As I visited my fellow bloggers this morning. . . most of whom have a spiritual connection in some manner; if not spiritual, most of those I encounter are in search of something . . . . I suppose, because I am such, I migrate to such. But, I realize that there are those who live each day and never, ever question such unanswerable puzzles as “What is the Purpose of Life.”
Children go from day to day, creating, imagining, loving and playing. . . yet they never question such deep, mind twisting questions. Although very inquisitive, children never question such nonsense. I imagine my grandchild’s eye brows would rise should I ask him such a question. He would most likely say – “you’re playing nanna, ha ha” and continue building a Lego ville to touch the ceiling.
So, today I question myself. Why must I find purpose? Is there really a Purpose for my life?
Have you ever given a gift to someone just because you wanted that individual to have it . . . no strings attached. . .
If you have, then you know that once you give the gift with no strings attached, you don’t really care what they do with it; it is given with love for them to do whatever they choose to do with it. There is no need for thank you’s; no acknowledgments or kudos, . . . just something you chose to give, just because you wanted that individual or entity to have it.
Perhaps life is just that. . . a wonderful gift from our creator to do just what we want to do with it. . . no strings attached.
Today I will enjoy life with the enthusiasm of a child, with no set agendas or purposes (as they change, anyway, ya think??), but simply allow life to unfold and follow my spirit from moment to moment!
What do you think, I’d love to hear your thoughts.
Quote for the Day: My purpose in life is to allow my spirit to guide me from one moment to the next, in love. ~CordieB

Happy

Pink Heaven Crystal (My Daughter) By Cordieb. Don't ask me why she's wearing the umbrella (LoL) 0h, I forgot it's snowing rainbowed colored flakes on a warm sunny day, Wow!
Here are a few New Year resolutions I have resolved to practice in 2010 - and I thought I’d pass them on to you too!
1. Be Happy: Leave behind all motives, causes and reasons which are not truly reasons of life.
2. Be Truthful: What a wicked web we weave, when first we start to deceive. (Get out of any webs already casted by shedding a truthful light, and vow not to create any more tangled webs)
2. Be kind: Treat everyone like you would treat a playful toddler, a little old lady, or yourself.
3. Be Responsible. Remember that you are responsible for your life. Don’t blame others for your perceived failures.
4. Be gentle: leave a legacy of tenderness, warmth and happy memories.
3. Be positive: know that whether good or bad everything will eventually change.
5. Be hopeful: a positive vision of the future creates a positive future for your vision.
6. Be free: free your mind and it will free your flesh – seek freedom most of all.
7. Be brave: stand for your highest values rather than against your deepest fears. That is the way of mastery.
8. Be wise: seek much knowledge and share it generously – this is true wisdom.
9. Be beautiful: beauty is not the absence of flaws, it is the gracious acceptance of them.
10. Be blessed: half the value of a blessing is in realizing you’ve received it.
11. Be authentically YOU: you are divinity’s greatest gift to this universe. Share the gift of your being that is light, love and life.
12. Be Generous: Know that you can be a blessing to someone each day.
13. Be Humble: Remember there is a blessing in every lesson.
14. Be Thankful: Be thankful for the Gift of Life.
15. Be forgiving: Forgivness frees your heart, mind, and spirit.
16. Be LOVE. It’s great to be loved, but even greater to BE LOVE! Love manifests Love!!!
Peace, Light and LOVE,
CordieB.

- Woman Hanging Laundry by Cammile Pissaro, 1887
From Lush to Love
In the very back of the garden, behind the evergreen bush
resides a homeless gent who years ago was labeled a lush
life had dealt him a bad hand; he’d reached the end of his rope
so he drowned his misery and pain and gave up all hope
and as life would have it, with a bottle of wine at his table
the poor gent became just what his peers had labeled
In the middle of the garden under the bright sunshine
stood a single mother hanging cloths on the line
She knew the pain of being judged and ostracized
Yet with the faith of her being, above all obstacles she’d rised
she found a loving connection with the man at her garden’s inn
so she made it a point that he’d have at least one friend
so each day after retrieving her cloths off the line
she’d invite him into her home for a hot meal and wine
he’d tell her the stories that lead to his fall from grace
to each sad story she’d give a positive spin in its place
she reminded him he had a beautiful soul and loving heart
as time moved on he embraced each day with a fresh new start
he developed a positive out look on life and love
Discovering his true self, he became aligned thereof
and as life would have it, with a bottle of wine at the table…
the peaceful gent became just what the kind mother had labeled
