To every being I shall grace
My love, despite a dismal face
I shall give a sweet respite
Come early morning, noon or night
To every being I shall give
My peace, regardless how one lives
Feared by many; welcomed by some…
Doesn’t matter, I still shall come
To quicken the spirit; to halt the breath…
Who am I ? (click below for riddle answer)
I am the mysterious Spirit of Death

HI CORDIE-
Embrace death? Not so sure about that – and I am not so sure that we embrace life more fully if we embrace death. I understand that if we know there is an end to life as we know it then perhaps that wil motivate us to love harder, forgive more, be kinder and so forth. Personally? I don’ think of love and life that way – each moment matters – each encouner has purpose- each life has meaning – each experience is of value and so forth, regardless if I am going to die today or in 50 years. I understand what you are saying though –
Love to you
Gail

Hi Gail. Thanks for your comment. I understand where you’re coming from as well. I’m happy you understand what I’m trying to convey. Perhaps I’m using the wrong words to clearly convey the meaning. However, to perhaps clarify for those who might not understand, when I embrace all of life, including death, I truely begin to live. I must embrace the darkness as well as the light, as all experiences when accepted initiates new growth in me.

Speaking for myself only, embracing the idea of death enhances the joy to be derived from life. A number of sources of that insight, but the one that had the biggest impact on me is the Tibetan Book of Living and Dying, by Sogyal Rinpoche. Strongly recommended.

Thanks for the recommendation! I’ve checked it out and put it on my must read list. Many of us feel uncomfortable with thinking of our mortality, but mortality is such a mystery that I believe many of our fears may be quite unfounded; as most fears turn out to be, in my experiences.
