Spiritual Riddle
I am the sin of grave covetousness
Bound to mine own self righteousness
Neglecting inner consciousness…
for all my mind craves to possess
I’m the root of imbalance in the land
As visioned pleasures I expand
Amid the poor and weakened man
To whom I dare not lend a hand…
Convincing self in false delight
that I deserve all in my plight…
What I consume is mine own right…
as daytime surely follows night…
The sad thing is I’m never filled,
as nothing ever quite fulfills
the hollow heart that slowly kills
my soul by short lived external thrills…
Hoarding more than I need
can’t quench the thirst of internal needs
with a starving soul and a heart that bleeds…
and decayed root bearing no fruit nor seed…
because one foolishly concedes

The Deadly Sin of Greed
~Written by CordieB.

Cordi,
I am so glad that you have moved beyond the pain! This is a great exercise. I am thankful for so very much, I will have to consider what was happening this time last year. In the area of being grateful, I don’t think to much has changed.
I love the riddle. Greed, ah, an illusion of ego that can take the best down the crooked road of poverty.
Notice how you move more into dwelling more on the present in your writing and feelings. In feeling the vastness of space around you, you sense freedom. Everything is put into perspective. You discover look out points of life, and put a sense of perspective on the being inside whom you have been unconsciously worried about. The more we put ourselves in the proper place, the more we stop judging and see self as a speck in the universe.
Why is it that when people perceive space between ‘here and there,’ they are conditioned to fill it up? Notice how people tend to fill up rooms with objects, walls with paintings, the empty mind with distracting pain, other emotions and ideas of multi-tasking. Some people only focus on what the mind thinks has yet to be done. Yet, as one chooses to be present, one is consciously unencumbered by thoughts and other hindrances. One is peaceful, content, and is simply being. To see the path of one’s life is to know emptiness is spreading forever.
