I am kind and patient; not boastful or proud…

I am all knowing, yet humble; not boisterous or loud

I am secure in my stead; not untrusting or jealous

I keep no scores of bad deeds; I’m forgiving….unrebellious

I am thankful for mine; of your’s I’m not envious

I don’t hold resentment to ferment my soul…

In-line with my spirit, it is compassion I hold!

I’m not judgmental; I allow others to be…

That which they are; so their souls might be free

Knowing we all are created from the same mighty force

Good, bad or indifferent; of the same Holy source!

I rejoice in the truth; refrain from deception…

Persevere with great hope, amid pain or rejection.

Not easily angered, remaining kind and protective…

Willing to look closely at life from another’s perspective.

I am the foundation of all Creation thereof…

I’m the most powerful, unfailing, Spirit of all

…I Am the Spirit of Love…

~Written by CordieB, Inspired by 1st Corinthian’s 13 and of course….. Love.

Quote for the Day: When I was a child, I talked like a child; I thought like a child; I reasoned like a child. As I grew, I put childish ways behind me. Then I saw but a poor reflection, as in a mirror. Now I see face to face. Then, I knew only in part. Now I know fully and I am fully known.

And now these three remain…

Faith

Hope

Love

But the greatest of these is…

LOVE

~1 Corinthians 13, The Bible

Another Quote: Knowing is realizing we don’t know it all ~CordieB.

Peace, Light and Love….

Away in a manger a long time ago…
a babe was born who longed to bring hope.
Three fourths of humanity worship the birth of this child
Yet, so few of us walk the path of the meek and the mild…

So few of strive to love our fellow man…
Though we hate and despise, still we worship the Man
So often we use Christ life’s purpose in vain
So few of us love our neighbors as Christ so diligently taught
We’ve turned his his walk into commercialism;
that can only be brought…

In stores to perhaps give a temporary smile
to those who can afford it…perhaps for a while
While others lay hungry, homeless and poor
we bustle and hustle to all of the stores . . .
Stressing ourselves to buy more, more and more…

We walk into churches each Sunday for Christ’s Sake
pointing fingers at those who have lost all their faith
due to heartless believers who so often spur hate
and pay all our dues for a religious retreat
yet somewhere a family is cold; abandoned, with nothing to eat

We speak of our Jesus with majestic love for the Man
never practicing that which He stood for– love for all humans
In fact we even practice hatred in His Holy name
and swear it is Christ-like to inflict such pain

Christ walked this earth to teach us to love
In hope that we not destroy humanity and the earth thereof
When will we practice the lessons taught by the babe who was born
in a manger to parents who were poor, ostracized and forlorn . . . ?

Let us remember the reason for the season by loving our neighbors and start treating others as we would have others treat us. Christ was about LOVE, PERIOD. All other agendas we may have are our own. Let us strive to keep this in mind this season and all seasons.

As always, Peace, Light and Love. . . CordieB.

The Sands of Ebony Time Shows on My Face
The bitter – sweetness of life and love leaves its trace
From whence an infant of purity and subtle innocence
To the ageless beauty of a woman’s essense
The lines shown around my deep brown eyes
Map a life of much laughter, joys and cries
My hands are wearing down like melten butter
From years of living love; caring for self and others

The expressions on my face reflect so clear
Wisdom and insight gained throughout the years
Living and loving through thick and thin
Embracing God’s grace and mercy of love within

Sharing my gift of love with countless souls
Experiencing the allness of life as time takes its toll
On the temporary shell for my spirit as life’s novel reveals
More mysteries for the heart; if my Creator so wills

Reeping the blessing of so many souls
Gracious of the puzzle that makes life whole
For me as the time passes so quickly it seems
Like only yesterday, I dreamth my very first dreams

As the sands of time harmonize with the winds of fate
that causes all soul’s shells to disinigrate and dissipate
but love and the inner soul survives, energizes and recreates
Thus the cycle of life recycles to invigorate . .

The newborne babe who starts life anew
Through his eyes and cries he reaches out to me and you.
In the eyes of the young we realize life’s wonders beginning again;
Awsomely, were all intricately weaved in a bigger plan . . .

To ensure that love for life continues on . . .
By sharing love, wisdom and knowlege when we inspire and pass on. . .
the Hands of Ebony Time’s blessed love-life seed
To all kindred spirits whose souls we feed.

~Written By CordieB.

PS. If you read this on my pictorial blog; it has changed somewhat. Of course I didn’t change one of my most dearest reader’s favorite line in the poem. I write this to remind us that although age takes its toll on the body, love and time makes the spirit stronger indeed. Pass on your love and embrace the love of others to ensure that your spirit remains strong yet gentle. For one sweet day when the spirit’s shell is ready for rest, you will find peace, joy and comfort in the love you’ve given and received.

Peace, Light and Love, CordieB.

Stillness ~By CordieB.

When we are down in the Valley of darkness and confusion
And life appears to be an endless delusion
This is the time, when we must stop, drop and be still
Listen for the answers; release all self will

When we are down in the Valley of Calamity
And troubles roll in like a raging sea
These are the times we must quiet our voices and actions
Await patiently for the answers, avoid any reactions

When we are down in the Valley and our hearts seem to bleed
And our emotions are in turmoil; lay still and take heed
to the answers that come, with the stillness of life
Listen for wisdom of truth; avoid stress and strife

The answers won’t come when we’re searching too hard;
they are never revealed when our heart is onguard
It’s only when our mind is clear from all tumultuous sources
That we hear the sweet revolution of truth whispered in silent voices

We must gaze into the cracked mirror to see what we create
We must probe our inner thoughts; because thoughts bring forth fate
We must search our desires; we must examine our fears
In stillness only will we discover the true cause of our tears

Still waters run deep; they allow us to see
the reflection of life looking back at the real me
Troubles waters only reflect an untruthful distortion
Turbulent waves only give forth a reflected contortion

Of the realness and allness that sent us into the valley
of darkness and confusion from unrealized reality
Of those things that God instructs from the difficult lessons
in humility that yields wisdom that blossoms into our blessings

I’m tired of living in the hood

Where gray is brain and red is blood

And children would leave if they could

And poor families are often misunderstood

I’m tired of seeing young folk roll in chairs

with wheels who can no longer climb the stairs

not because they were born with such disableness

but because they were shot; blessed to live no less

I’m tired of seeing mothers sobbing and crying

whild holding a child on the street that is dying

I’m tired of seeing fathers sigh

while cursing God and asking why

I’m tired of seeing brothers and sisters mad at the world; feeling defeat

because their brother’s been killed by their friend down the street

I’m tired of seeing whole neighborhoods in dispair in need of repair

And everyone talking but nobody’s walking the walk or showing they care

I’m tired of praying for an uneventful day

Instead of for real things, like people should pray

I’m tired of the fear to walk to the store

or call the police for fear of turf war;

for fear that my own children will bear consequence

of me aiding the law makers in stopping the noncense.

I’m tired of not having the words to say to a relative

whose lost her son and is trying to live on and forgive

I’m tired of not knowing just what to convey

to that parent at the funeral – tell me what would you say?

I’m tired of mothers and fathers not teaching their own

about life respect and those many seeds that should be sown

instead of street, drugs, disrespect and tit for tat

thinking thug is cute; in the drug game with wallets fat

I’m tired of parents loosing all control

of their own self-respect to their 12-year old

I’m tired of parents being too lazy, tired or scared to disipline

Or trying to be cool; you can’t be a parent and be his friend

Even a real friend tells a friend right from wrong

Not leave it up to him to find out on his own

I tell you! I am sick and damn tired

of young babies with babies who end up expired

before they are 20; oftentimes even younger

What happend to neighborhood unity; I wonder!

I’m tired of everyone scared to speak up

of the filth and the rubbish that is all down the block

In fear of that thug down the street with a glock

I’m tired of whispering a prayer of relief when I find

out the teen laying out on the street is not one of mine

I’m tired of no activities; no community centers

No movies or skatelands; no positive mentors

We’ve all dropped the ball on a whole generation

of young people who know no love from our nation

I’m tired of those who refuse to inconvience themself

for the benefit of the life of a child, inspite of themself

I’m tired of the talking papers, the reports and surveys

The crack and the smack and lean that causes brain decay

I’m tired of the empty prayers placed on the shelf

I’m tired of the hood; I’m tired of myself.

Every Friday, I usually join my Photo Friday club; This week’s theme is Unlucky . I was simply too sick and tired to take a picture this week – besides, I couldn’t think of anything more unfortunate than the loss of a child – some call it unlucky – some call it fate – some call it God’s will. My daughter’s neighbor’s child, who was only 14 year’s old was killed on Wednesday while walking home. Word is that he was not the intended victim; an innocent bystander. One of the bullets came through my daughter’s window, along with more bullets that came through other neighbor’s windows. I’ts a blessing that no one else was hurt. I’m whispering a prayer for the family of Deshun Taylor, I can feel his mothers grief. I pray that she will be able to make it through this terrible time. I’m whispering a prayer for all of us, although I’m sick and tired!

Update on Deshun Taylor’s case:

All three suspects in the Wednesday killing of an East End seventh-grade middle school student have been arrested, a crowd mourning the death of the slain boy learned last night.

The mourners were gathered for a candlelight prayer vigil in the 2200 block of Fairfield Avenue, near where 14-year-old Deshun Taylor was felled by a bullet Wednesday about 2 p.m.

Alicia Rasin, an advocate for the families of homicide victims, announced shortly after 8 p.m. that interim Police Chief David McCoy just had told her the third suspect had been caught. Read More . . .

A Rock, A River, A Tree
Hosts to species long since departed,
Marked the mastodon. The dinosaur, who left dry tokens
Of their sojourn here
On our planet floor,
Any broad alarm of their hastening doom
Is lost in the gloom of dust and ages.

But today, the Rock cries out to us, clearly, forcefully,
Come, you may stand upon my
Back and face your distant destiny,
But seek no haven in my shadow.

I will give you no more hiding place down here.

You, created only a little lower than
The angels, have crouched too long in
The bruising darkness,
Have lain too long
Face down in ignorance.

Your mouths spilling words
Armed for slaughter.

The Rock cries out today, you may stand on me,
But do not hide your face.

Across the wall of the world,
A River sings a beautiful song,
Come rest here by my side.

Each of you a bordered country,
Delicate and strangely made proud,
Yet thrusting perpetually under siege.

Your armed struggles for profit
Have left collars of waste upon
My shore, currents of debris upon my breast.

Yet, today I call you to my riverside,
If you will study war no more. Come,

Clad in peace and I will sing the songs
The Creator gave to me when I and the
Tree and the stone were one.

Before cynicism was a bloody sear across your
Brow and when you yet knew you still
Knew nothing.

The River sings and sings on.

There is a true yearning to respond to
The singing River and the wise Rock.

So say the Asian, the Hispanic, the Jew
The African and Native American, the Sioux,
The Catholic, the Muslim, the French, the Greek
The Irish, the Rabbi, the Priest, the Sheikh,
The Gay, the Straight, the Preacher,
The privileged, the homeless, the Teacher.
They hear. They all hear
The speaking of the Tree.

Today, the first and last of every Tree
Speaks to humankind. Come to me, here beside the River.

Plant yourself beside me, here beside the River.

Each of you, descendant of some passed
On traveller, has been paid for.

You, who gave me my first name, you
Pawnee, Apache and Seneca, you
Cherokee Nation, who rested with me, then
Forced on bloody feet, left me to the employment of
Other seekers–desperate for gain,
Starving for gold.

You, the Turk, the Swede, the German, the Scot …
You the Ashanti, the Yoruba, the Kru, bought
Sold, stolen, arriving on a nightmare
Praying for a dream.

Here, root yourselves beside me.

I am the Tree planted by the River,
Which will not be moved.

I, the Rock, I the River, I the Tree
I am yours–your Passages have been paid.

Lift up your faces, you have a piercing need
For this bright morning dawning for you.

History, despite its wrenching pain,
Cannot be unlived, and if faced
With courage, need not be lived again.

Lift up your eyes upon
The day breaking for you.

Give birth again
To the dream.

Women, children, men,
Take it into the palms of your hands.

Mold it into the shape of your most
Private need. Sculpt it into
The image of your most public self.
Lift up your hearts
Each new hour holds new chances
For new beginnings.

Do not be wedded forever
To fear, yoked eternally
To brutishness.

The horizon leans forward,
Offering you space to place new steps of change.
Here, on the pulse of this fine day
You may have the courage
To look up and out upon me, the
Rock, the River, the Tree, your country.

No less to Midas than the mendicant.

No less to you now than the mastodon then.

Here on the pulse of this new day
You may have the grace to look up and out
And into your sister’s eyes, into
Your brother’s face, your country
And say simply
Very simply
With hope
Good morning.
