Thankful Thursday – I Am the Sin of Grave Covetousness (A Spiritual Riddle)

greed

This is an update from a post I wrote last year – I’ve added and deleted some of my thanks givings from last year…  As you can see, I’ve been blessed throughout the year.  Also, I present to you a  riddle to help exercise the thankful brain.

1. Today I am thankful that my pain is subsiding. pain is gone!

2. Today I am thankful that I have a good man who deals with my pain with me in a supporting, loving manner.

3. Today I am thankful that my children are doing well.

4. Today I am thankful for the warmth of the summer.

5. Today I am thankful that my fever is subsiding I can’t even remember the fever I spoke of last year.

6.  Today I am thankful for another year to live and love and that nothing is constant but change :)   (Added today, July 15th, 2010)

What were you thankful for last year this time?  What are you thankful for Today?

Spiritual Riddle

I am the sin of grave covetousness

Bound to mine own self righteousness

Neglecting inner consciousness…

for all my mind craves to possess

I’m the root of imbalance in the land

As visioned pleasures I expand

Amid the poor and weakened man

To whom I dare not lend a hand…

Convincing self in false delight

that I deserve all in my plight…

What I consume is mine own right…

as daytime surely follows night…

The sad thing is I’m never filled,

as nothing ever quite fulfills

the hollow heart that slowly kills

my soul by short lived external thrills…

Hoarding more than I need

can’t quench the thirst of internal needs

with a starving soul and a heart that bleeds…

and decayed root bearing no fruit nor seed…

because one foolishly concedes

to me, (Who Am I – Click Below for Riddle Answer)

Somewhere Over The Rainbow

Current Mood:Playful emoticon Playful

Rainbow ~Courtesy of Just.Luc

With a ray of hope

And a glass half full…

And a mindset of

All is possible…

She cast her dreams

To the land of potential…

Awaiting with patience…

The inconsequential.

With dire belief…

Without brawn or tear

Only pure optimism

That her ship was near.

But that dream ship sail

Never came in view

Yet she always knew

Luck was overdue….

As the days passed on

And the years flew by…

Looking  back on life

She asked a simple why…

And the dream she’d cast

Replied over the rainbow

Though you watered the pot

Not a seed did you sow. . .

Thought for the Day…Especially for all perpetual dreamers…

Remember to plant your seeds before you water your pots

And,

Even if your big dream is to hit the lotto, you’ve got to play to win…baby!

From Lush to Love

From Lush to Love

In the very back of the garden, behind the evergreen bush

resides a homeless gent who years ago was labeled a lush

life had dealt him a bad hand; he’d reached the end of his rope

so he drowned his misery and pain and gave up all hope

and as life would have it, with a bottle of wine at his table

the poor gent became just what his peers had labeled

In the middle of the garden under the bright sunshine

stood a single mother hanging cloths on the line

She knew the pain of being judged and ostracized

Yet with the faith of her being, above all obstacles she’d rised

she found a loving connection with the man at her garden’s inn

so she made it a point that he’d have at least one friend

so each day after retrieving her cloths off the line

she’d invite him into her home for a hot meal and wine

he’d tell her the stories that lead to his fall from grace

to each sad story she’d give a positive spin in its place

she reminded him he had a beautiful soul and loving heart

as time moved on he embraced each day with a fresh new start

he developed a positive out look on life and love

Discovering his true self, he became aligned thereof

and as life would have it, with a bottle of wine at the table…

the peaceful gent became just what the kind mother had labeled

Only in silence can certain voices be heard ~CordieB.

Only in silence can certain voices be heard

The fall of a dew drop; the song of the bird

The rustle of a leaf; the sparkle of a star

The whisper of a mother; the beat of a heart

Sh… sh… can you hear the wind singing to the moon?

Sh… listen to the butterfly flutter in mid afternoon

The ripple of a stream; the budding of a flower

The ticking of a clock in life’s final hour

The dance of a fetus; the pulse of a lover

The soul’s peaceful journey when crossing over

The strength of a man; the drop of a tear

The courage to overcome deafening fear

Sh… can you hear the ants working peacefully together

Sh, sh…listen to the echoes of allness and forever

The popping of bubbles; the pea in the pod

The breath of love; the voices of God

Indecisiveness

This poem was prompted by Simply Snickers.  The words for this week were: damp, decide, and droll.

Indecision by *moonmomma

Indecision by *moonmomma

Indecisiveness

Indecisiveness takes its toll
On the drollness and lightness of our soul
Made up minds lift the dread filled weight
lingering heavily on our fate

Indecision stunts our growth
though deciding we may loath
one must move through inconclusive’s brace
holding mind, body and spirit stuck in place…

till decisions can be made
life continues, low-keyed; afraid
knowing in the back of mind
choices must be made in time

Preventing  souls from moving free
intensifying fears of what may or may not be
lest we move from fear to flight
we may never see the light

Though decisions may be wrong
lack of choice only prolongs
mending of spirit and self torn apart
when in dire doubt, follow your heart

A Spiritual Riddle – Wishful Thinking, By CordieB.

You may never touch us physically, but spiritually we are always in your grasp;
We are radiance and pure energy which so often make the children gasp
In awe of our beauty and the multitude of sparks
that twinkle and glitter in the dark from the fields, neighborhoods, and parks

You may gaze upon our radiance and make a wish or two
We may even understand you, as we very often do.
We gaze down upon your wonderment, as you look up to the skies
In a wishful belief and comfort that we can dry your teary eyes.

If we could answer all your prayers and your wishes make them true,
We’d simply tell you truthfully, all the answers lie in you.
We are here to provide you beauty, light, warmth and energy;
To aide you in a moment of escape from today’s imagery

To render beauty and calmness in the night amongst today’s mad, twisted twirl;
And to help you realize God’s creation is far beyond your small, small world
To remind you that you’re not alone in your troubles, wants and cares,
For many a child and man have upon us wished a trillion different prayers.

We would tell you it matters not so much your worldly false needs or desire;
For your needs and wants come and go; and no condition is so dire–
That it won’t pass as all does, you see nothing remains the same;
For every night turns to day; even we will someday lose our flame.

But it gives us great delight in knowing that we’ve encouraged you once more,
We shine to provide sparkle and energy which may inspire you to soar
To reach to us in aspiration and live each day with abilities to cope,
With each moment’s joys and disappointments with love, faith and hope

We ourselves wish that our light will give you guidance on how to live your life–
That you’ll  in-turn love others on your sphere and always shine your love light.
That you’ll give a boost of inpiration to that man in grave dispair
Or to that child who is homeless, hungry; or simply needs someone to care.

That you will be a guiding light for aimless souls searching in the dark,
For someone headed down a dark path in life may only need a spark
Of love and compassion from you to boost start and point the way
To the wonderful, truthful realization that all is not in dismay.

So shine your light as we do and dream upon us if you wish.
But remember blessings are to be passed on; not to be kept–selfish.
If you want to make your deepest, intermost wishes come true
Take a closer look at self, and what is genuinely you.

Not external values, such as money, fame and passing romance
But what’s in the inside – what really makes you dance.
If you wish upon me tonight, I’d bet a million, trillion light years
That the time will come when you will no longer have the same illusionary fears.
Or false demands or needs for happiness as you think you do now.
And upon me you’ll have another wish upon your fretfull, sweet brow.

We would tell you a change in circumstances must always start with you;
You frame your life by your thoughts, beliefs, and all that you do.

We would remind you everything you need in this life has already been given.
The key is in accepting, embracing and love for the life you’re now living.

I’m sure you know the riddles’s answer, as the clues are quasars

We are objects of wishful thinking, we are simply the stars. . .

By CordieB

You are so wonderful just as you are right now! The stars look up at you!

Pandemic Faith, Hope and Love

Beautiful Artwork Courtesy of Roberlan Borges Paresqui - Click Image to View His Other Works

Yesterday, I was saddened that Jamal, and many other young men and woman who have lost their lives to senseless violence, did not witness a historical moment in history.  I was saddened they were not able to witness Americans thinking beyond racial barriers and casting their votes for positive change by electing Barack Obama.

Yet, on another note I felt a sense of renewed hope and faith.  Not only did I feel it, I saw it.  I saw a sense of hope, faith and love that I had not seen in the eyes of my brothers and sisters, my children, my neighbors, my friends and co-workers, in a very long time.  From the wino on the corner, to the little old lady, to the beautiful young people, all of whom stood in lines in the rain, often for hours, I saw on their faces renewed hope, faith and love.     I saw renewed hope in the eyes of those whose eyes have mirrored hopelessness for a very long time.   I felt delighted that so many of us have been given a fresh dose of hope in a dismal time in America.

I am proud that America is finally moving beyond racial issues and striving to see people for who they are.  I am proud that Americans are finally realizing that we need change in the administration, change in policy, and change from our leadership.  We need positive change which incorporates, We, the People.  Not We, the Rich People; not We, the Black People; not We, the White People, not We the Straight People, but, We The People.

I feel renewed hope that President elect Obama has the abilities to inspire Americans to stop thinking and feeling in the backward ways of divisiveness and hopelessness.   I can see that Obama truly believes in what he speaks and that his love for humanity will be so contagious, that we all will catch it.

Just as hopelessness, hatred, and lacking faith is contagious; so is hopefulness, faith and love.   I am positive that Obama will be the anecdote to the disease of hopelessness and hatred that was spreading across America in epidemic proportions.   His spirit for humanity will sweep across racial lines, religious sects, city streets, country roads, and spread throughout the world.  The essence of embracing humanity and loving thy neighbor will become so infectious that it will spread in pandemic proportions!

So even though Jamal and many others who have lost their lives to senseless violence are not around to share in the victory, I am delighted that there are so many others who are still here who will catch the love virus, spread it, and create a world where hatred may become eradicated and the communicable love virus spreads across America and beyond!

Walking In Sunshine, Through the Rain

Into each life some rain must fall…

yet the sun’s out there throughout it all…

though shadowed by dismal clouds of rain,

the sun abides; it still remains.

So often in our minds, we can not feel

what we don’t see; though it is real…

So often we fail to recognize the fact

that through the storm, the sun remains in tact;

Her energy works with the storms of life,

to nurture our souls; withstand the strife…

to help us grow in God’s domain…

to make us strong, endure the pain.

Like when a newborn babe first breaks the womb;

Emerginging into light, quickly she blooms…

Into an independent being, from love begotten…

Thus, pain of passage is soon forgotten!

So when the rains falls heavily upon my face,

I embrace God’s nurturing, cleansing grace;

I see his love peaking through the clouds;

I feel her essense as rain enshrouds;

I embrace his power; when lightning strikes…

when thunder roars through darkened nights;

I hold my own, I understand…

It’s all part of an intricate, master plan-

I know the sun is still out there…

She’s got my back, she’s most aware! everywhere!

And when the morning comes to view…

She carresses my being; life’s anewed.

Like nature freshened by morning’s dew.

Looking in the Mirror Reflected By Others

Everyone comes into our life to mirror back to us some part of ourselves we cannot or will not see. They show us the parts we need towork on or let go of. They reveal to us the things we do and the effects they have on ourselves and others. They say to us openly the things we say to ourselves silently. They reveal to us the fears, doubts, weaknesses and character flaws we know we have but refuse to address or acknowledge. We can usually see the faults of thers very clearly. We all have people in our lives who anger or annoy us, who rub us the wrong way. They may bring pain and disruption. They may reject us, abandon us and create some sort fo harm. Before we ge busy trying to fix the person or remedy the situation, we should ask ourselves, "Why is this person in my life?" "What am I doing to draw this person to myself?" "How do I need what they do, and how can I release this need?" When we we cleanse, heal, and bring ourselves into balance, everyone in our lives will do the same or disappear.

I Will Receive Everything I Ask For, But Only If I Really Want It.

Ann spent six and a half months living in a basement with rats and mice.  Every day she prayed for a safe place to sleep.  her prayers were finally answered.  A Friend offered her the living room sofa.  After two weeks of living out of shopping bags, she starte praying again.  "Please!  All I want is a rom with a bed."  Three months later her daily prayer was heard.  She founda six-by-nine-foot room with enough space for her body, a bed, and four milk carts to hold her clothes.  Why didn’t Ann ask for a three-bedroom house with a basement, backyard and garage?  Because like most of us, Ann’s tendency was to limit God.  For some reason we get stuck in our immediate need and we think God is stuck there too.  We believe that the one who created the earth, sun, stars, mountains, rivers, oceans and trees has nothing left to give.  How long will it take us to realize we have an unlimited account with the universal bank?  Our prayers make the withdrawals.  Our faith is the deposit.

A Spiritual Riddle – The Darkest Shadow -By CordieB

 shadow
Photo courtesy of Jill Greeseth , and is licenced under the Creative Commons

I am the tallest, darkest shadow to fall upon the hearts of men;
I have caused enormous calamity, failure and sin;
With me in a heart, humans seldom ever win.

Such a cold, dark, shallow shadow am I;
I bring on fears and tears, causing humans to sigh, asking why?

I’ve destroyed countless relationships, successes and faith;
I’m quite subtle, yet very strong is my wrath;
All minds and hearts will inevitably at times see me in their path.

All humans encounter me, some more than another;
You see, insecurity is my sister and worry is my brother;
My father is fear; suspicion, my mother.
I embrace souls at night like a new found lover.
If you are not carefull, I will suffocate you under my dark, thick cover.

Like a blanket of dread, I cover my prey;
To release yourself of my wrath, you must kneel down and pray;
Stay thankful and hopeful, live day by day.

I’ve had many second-guessing what’s wrong from right.
I cause anxiousness, apprehensiveness,
and can make hearts uptight;
But my shadow is very easily overcome by the family of light . . .

For the bright light of hope, faith, and love shine so bright
And they bring courage, security and trust to join in the fight;
Such illuminosity, clarity, and brilliance is their light,
It will cause my dark, deep shadow to fade and disappear straight into the night!
